The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) was awarded a two-year $488,598 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a pilot project entitled "Public Reporting and Dynamic Access: Changing Regional Environmental Health of South Florida's Everglades Ecosystem" This award has been made possible through the EPA's EMPACT Program. The grant was applied for in April 1999, award notice was received in October of 1999, and the grant agreement was executed in February 2000. There are 5 main objectives to the grant:
The most significant product of this project is the web site that will provide a user interface to track the success of Everglades restoration projects and the general health of Florida's ecosystems.
